Eek! It’s three days before Christmas and we just found out we’re having relatives in town. Although I had my tree up, I hadn’t put much thought into decorating my dining room just yet! I had to rally, and rally fast!
I quickly did an assessment of my existing décor that I hadn’t put up. I had some left-over gold ribbon from another project, a few glass vases from different flower and décor displays around my house and a few dollar store candle sticks. With these items in mind, and the need to pull something together that was, FAST, EASY and MATCHED my existing décor, I ran off to the dollar store to grab some last-minute pieces to help me pull my dining room holiday look together. Here’s what my inventory looked like by the time I was done:
I pack of long candles
6 glass candlestick holders
4 glass vases
A dozen assorted bunches of flowers and foliage (I went with the ones with pine cones since I had some pine cone décor around the house, already)
1 bottle of sparkly gold nail polish
4 battery-operated LED candles
4 silver placemats
1 set of silver napkins
I pulled everything together on the table and began piecing items together!
DIY Glitter Candlesticks
If you’re a DIYer like me, you’ve likely seen the vase/candlestick centerpieces on YT a million times. However, to make it my own, I decided to take on the challenge but add my own little twist. See the full video to learn step-by-step how I pulled these simple, yet elegant candlesticks together.
Holiday Foliage
Rather than a flower arrangement or poinsettia plants, I opted for a festive mix of branches, greenery and pine cones. It’s a fresh look that still brings a level of festivity to the centerpiece. I wanted to ensure everything tied together so I used gold glitter nail polish from the dollar store to add a little sparkle to the pine cones and sprig branches. I love how it turned out!
Place Settings
OK – you should know by now that I’m obsessed with a good place setting! I found these gorgeous silver charges for 50% off at Hobby Lobby. The pewter chargers worked perfectly because they brought the gold and silver look together perfectly. I added in a crystal napkin ring around the cloth napkins that I got from HomeGoods (on sale, of course!), to tie everything together and give the setting a little bling. Add in a white plate and the setting was super sharp, clean and elegant.
I hope this quick, easy and cheap holiday table setting inspired you! If you’ve got to pull off an amazing spread with only a day or so to prep, I hope you found some great ideas in here to give you a head start!
Happy Holidays, everyone!
With Love, From Kay
